The angiographic prevalence of myocardial bridging in man.

چکیده

Although frequently noted in necropsy series, myocardial bridging has been detected in only 0.5 to 1.6 percent of coronary arteriograms. In this study, the prevalence of angiographically-demonstrable myocardial bridging was determined by a retrospective review of 465 consecutive coronary arteriograms. Bridging was present in 35 arteriograms (7.5 percent) in this series and was located exclusively in the left anterior descending coronary artery. The prevalence of bridging involving this vessel was 9.7 percent in the arteriograms in which the anterior descending artery was adequately visualized. Only 8 of the 35 cases with myocardial bridging had been noted on the initial catheterization reports, a prevalence of 1.7 percent which is similar to that previously reported. The higher frequency of bridging reported here is felt to reflect an increased recognition of this phenomenon detected by a careful review of the arteriograms with the specific purpose of assessing the prevalence of myocardial bridging.

Multiple myocardial bridge in a 59 year-old woman

Introduction: Myocardial bridging is a congenital condition in which a segment of a major epicardial coronary artery has an intra myocardial route. Myocardial bridging is usually confined to a single vessel and is typically the mid segment of the left anterior descending artery. Bridging may be associated with chest pain, myocardial infarction, and sudden cardiac death, or usually asymptomati...

A Rare Case of Double Myocardial Bridges of the Left Anterior Descending Artery

Myocardial bridge is a benign congenital anomaly in which a segment of major epicardial coronary arteries descends into the myocardium for a variable distance. Myocardial bridge is most often single and located in the middle part of the left anterior descending artery. The presence of more than one myocardial bridge in coronary arteries is very rare. We present a patient with more than one myoc...

Normalisation of abnormal coronary fractional flow reserve associated with myocardial bridging using an intracoronary stent.

Although intracoronary stenting procedures have been advocated for the successful treatment of myocardial ischaemia associated with myocardial bridging, the physiological rationale for this approach remains unexplored. The case of a 70 year old man with symptoms of cardiac ischaemia associated with a left anterior descending coronary artery bridge is described, where use of an intracoronary ste...

An Overview of Myocardial Bridging With a Focus on Multidetector CT Coronary Angiographic Findings

Myocardial bridging (MB) is a common anatomical variant rather than a congenital anomaly, and it is usually considered benign. It is generally confined to the mid-portion of the left anterior descending coronary artery. Atherosclerotic plaques are often located in the segment proximal to the bridged segment, although the tunneled segment is typically spared. Conventional coronary angiography is...

Congenital Coronary Variants and Anomalies: Prevalence in Cardiovascular Multislice Computed Tomography Studies in a Single Center

In the era of Multislice Computed Tomography (MSCT), few studies have been dedicated to the evaluation of coronary anomalies and variants. We aim to present, describe and assess the prevalence of congenital coronary variants and anomalies (CVA) in the MSCT coronary angiographic studies performed in our department. All the MSCT coronary angiographies performed in our department, between April 1,...
